For a small school, Hendra State School is very well equipped. Sitting on grounds of approximately 4 hectares, the school consists of two teaching blocks, an administration block and a new resource centre.
All classrooms are air-conditioned, ensuring that our students will continue to learn in comfortable environments even during the Brisbane summer. Our classrooms have recently undergone ICT transformations with interactive projectors and wireless access points. Our resource centre is equipped with desktops, and in addition classes have 1–1 iPads that can be used from within the school grounds.
Our junior students enjoy a new adventure playground and sandpit, under the shade of our large shady trees, that were planted over one hundred years ago. Students can also use trikes to ride on the oval path and our large green oval is ideal for running and ball sports. Lunchtimes see students come together for our school clubs:
The Hendra State School P&C Association was recently successful in obtaining funds from the Brisbane City Council to establish a new 'lizard habitat' garden with native bees. Our free-range chickens, native planting and composting encourages our students to become custodians of the environment with sustainable practices embedded in the curriculum.
