Swimming in Schools supports the delivery of quality swimming and water safety education.
The initiative ensures all students have the opportunity to:
- engage in appropriate water safety and learn to swim programs
- develop and share consistent water safety messages
This year, we have taken the opportunity to review the school swimming program and
introduce a new weeklong intensive block (five consecutive days). Research tells us that a
weeklong block has more impact and increases students learning dramatically. For this reason,
we have now booked into Clayfield College Swimming School for Week 8. Students will attend
lessons each day as follows:
Week 8 - Monday 25th November – Friday 29th November
- 9.00am – 9.45am – all Prep, Year 1 and Year 2
- 9.45am – 10.30am – all Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6
Lessons will run for 45 minutes in a 25m pool. Non-swimmers or beginners will use distances
of 7m-12m in the shallow end of the pool to develop their swimming confidence.
Qualified Austswim or Swim Australia instructors conduct all lessons: student ratio 1:8 max
with most sessions running on 1:6.
Cost: $40 per student (including a swim cap)
Payment must be received prior to the commencement of the program.
Please see Dani or Nicola to arrange a payment plan as soon as possible.
Thank you to the P&C for their donation to the swimming program, which has significantly
reduced the price for families.
Transport: Red and white bus to and from Clayfield College Swimming School.
Clothing: The wearing of a bathing cap is compulsory. Students must wear a full piece
swimming costume or swim shorts. Students require a swimming shirt and sunblock. Googles
must be worn.
Students may wear their sports uniform for the whole of week 8. Thongs or sandals may be worn to and from the pool.
