2014 Camp to North Keppel Island

Testing the rafts on the pristine waters of North Keppel Island.

The students in Years 4 to 7 went on the journey of a lifetime recently when they attended the North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre off the coast of Yeppoon for our yearly school camp.

Twenty-one students, and two teachers attended the camp, which in total covered six days, including travelling.

The students learnt much about the indigenous tribes inhabiting the island, as well as the diverse and precious wildlife of the pristine environment.

In addition students discovered a lot about themselves as they worked co-operatively in groups to complete a number of challenges.  Some of these challenges included:

  • raft building
  • camping out and cooking overnight
  • hiking
  • snorkelling

The staff and students extend a gracious thank-you to the wonderful staff at North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre.
